I recently stumbled upon this video by V Birchwood, “What Wearing Historical Fashion Every Day Taught Me About Life”, that provides some good information on the benefits of sewing your own clothes.
Some of the points include:
-Connection to ancestors (especially exploring Volga Tartar clothing)
-The joy of learning new skills
-Many modern clothes (especially jeans) might be socially acceptable but not necessarily comfortable, and historical clothes tend to be more so
-Importance of layering and breathable fabrics to reduce laundry burden
