I've gotten mixed up with some characters starting a program to teach sustainable agriculture to Seattle's homeless folks.  we still need one or two field instructors and somebody to develop curriculum.

this isn't nominally a permaculture project, but I think it would benefit substantially from some permaculture perspectives.

that said, we need folks with strong background in more mainstream small-scale agriculture for these positions.  I'm hoping to nudge things toward permaculture over time, but that's a goal, not a starting point.

I'm really excited about this project.  reply on this thread or send me a personal message if you're interested.

while I don't have any agricultural background, does your program need volunteers or the like?  I'm really interested in urban agricultural and inner city food security and would love to help out.

tentamus:

I don't know of any volunteer opportunities just yet.  this project probably won't qualify as urban agriculture, either.  the participants will certainly be urban, but the agriculture will be in Duvall.

check out Seattle's Year of Urban Agriculture, though.  I would be willing to bet you might find some volunteer opportunities there.

your enthusiasm for inner city food security is encouraging, even if we might not be able to put you to work on this particular project.

Hi tel,

I would be interested in what you are doing in a little more detail. If you could send me some more info to my email, listed below, I will get in touch. Interesting proposition and great idea!

It wasn't my idea to go to some crazy nightclub in the middle of nowhere. I just wanted to stay home and cuddle with this tiny ad:
