We have developed a new variety of potato with some exceptional characteristics here at Cheerful Potato Mountain Farm, which we are of course going to call the Cheerful Potato. It has stolons of up to five feet, and will naturalize easily, on which form small potatoes around 2-5cm wide on average. The skin is red, with red flesh, and a bitter taste that goes away with extensive cooking. The vines are rambling and root at the nodes, and the potatoes are indeterminate; they will even shoot down runners up to 3ft downward to reach the ground, and they are hardy to Zone 3b. Highly productive, 1lb of potatoes yields 20-30lbs in total once the soil is thoroughly sifted and all potato-shaped rocks are removed. They form potatoes at a depth of up to 5’ with the occasional outlier as deep as 8’.

If you are interested in buying them, check at our farmers’ market stand. If you would like a sample for growing out, contact us at sales@cheerfulpotatomountainfarm.com.

Note that the Cheerful Potato contains genes transferred from the Indian Grey Mongoose and others, and is patented. You agree that for every potato that grows from these plants, a $1 donation is given to Cheerful Potato Mountain Farm in gratitude for our efforts. I’m sure you understand this to be a fair and just compensation for our exalted charity and high achievements in the realm of plant breeding.
