Advanced Permaculture Mentorship starting this Fall in the Southern Wilamette Valley of Oregon
Are you looking for a hands-on land- and homestead-based mentorship opportunity?
We are a loving family living on a beautiful forested hillside. We have been managing the land around us for food, wood products, and ecological resilience for 10 years. We value community, friendship, education, health, and caring for the place we live. We like to work hard and enjoy spending most of our time outside growing food, managing our nursery business, caring for the plants and animals with which we share this land, and enjoying the forest.
We are looking for 1-4 people to live on the land with us, collaborate on permaculture projects, and share the homesteading experience starting Fall of 2014. We are looking for people who:
Appreciate simple living and community connection
Are self-motivated and enjoy working hard outside
Communicate well
Have some experience, knowledge, or skills related to some aspect of homesteading
Are looking for advanced skills and a mentoring relationship in certain aspects of land management, gardening, etc. (see below)
We offer the following skills and resources (as well as others not listed):
Community living and communication, various ways to structure co-ownership of land
Small business planning and management, right livelihood options
Year-round annual, perennial, garden, and orchard maintenance, harvest, and preservation
Medicinal herb garden maintenance, harvest, and preservation
Plant propagation and nursery management
Northwest native plant ecosystems
Botany, plant taxonomy, plant physiology, and soils
Forest management - mapping, harvest selection, habitat restoration
Fence and other outdoor infrastructure creation and maintenance
Homestead alternative and appropriate technologies
Northwest ethnobotany
Raising poultry (chickens, ducks, perhaps others)
Opportunities to participate in our on-site workshops
We envision that this experience will help you make a transition from studying permaculture to begin establishing your own permaculture-oriented micro-enterprise.
