Greg Harvey ; Interesting article, I am seriously wondering why No one responded to it ! This could be a very good piece of light weight camping gear,
or something to provide very clean water in useful amounts even storing some at Air Well locations ! Lots of other ideas too!
I like, listen to, and follow N P R. But I think that a factual error has snuck into the story after it was posted elsewhere. not that unusual when an English
major is assigned to write a science story and the proof reading and blue pencil are wielded by an editor whose job qualification is having gone to a 2 year
Business School.
O.K., Lets talk about polypropylene ! It first surfaced because it was very lite and strong and floated on water, and was used for the rope that towed water
skiers! Later it showed up as sox and underwear, it was warm, lite weight, and
Hydrophobic It actually let water slip through it but you never had that
'clammy shirt' -next to your skin feeling !
In the article it says that the two middle layers are hydrophilic , I believe that the bottom layer would be able to perform its function better if it was hydro
-phobic, and I believe that is the way it was described in an earlier article, from a different source!
I had held off until I might get more information on this but even though I think the staff writer made an error in re-transcribing the Article I just wanted to
say good catch, we may see something like this being offered in a cloud sourcing promotion ! for the crafts Big AL !
