I'm hoping to build my first hugelkultur and was wondering if anyone knew of a reason not to use Monkey Puzzle tree wood. It may be the only large amount of wood I have access to right now but I'm willing to wait for other wood if there is a reason not to use it (allelopathic, etc). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also I may be able to get a little bit of cottonwood. Any reservations about using that?

From my understanding it is similar to any other conifer, a little acidic, I would say you should be fine.

Thanks so much for your reply. I'm putting blueberries on part of it so maybe I'll put most of that wood closer to where the blueberries are. Thanks again.
