I had outdoor rabbits when I was a kid living in Houston. It would get so hot during the summer. My mom would use large plastic bottles from juice or milk, fill them with water, freeze them, and then set them in the bunnies' cage.

I live in central Texas and have raised rabbits outdoors for several years. I have never had a problem keeping my rabbits from dying, however i never have been able to keep them breeding through the summer months. I have a shaded place where the sun never hits and i also have been using the water bottle technique. This can work, however i have had some rabbits that have been scared of the water bottles, so then they do no good! I really like the marble slab idea and i think I'm gonna try that this year as well as rig up some fans. Thank you for all y'all's posts. Some of them are really helpful! Any other tips would be appreciated.

Also, last summer i had a problem for the first time with ear mites. I was able to get rid of them, but it was a long process. I saw a post about a medicine that takes care of the mites with one dose. Any one know what it is called? Thanks
