Hello, we are the members of the Cold Pond Community Land Trust in Acworth, NH. We are 6 families who collectively steward roughly 120 acres. The land is mostly mixed hardwood forest with some pasture and community garden space, in addition to our individual home sites. As is the case in many CLT's, we own our homes and buildings, but lease our home sites. We currently have a site available for lease and we are actively searching for applicants.
A bit about the available site.....
43°13'59.10 N 72°16'36.37 W
Currently wooded, Sloping SW. Mostly maple, ash, beech, and birch. Nearby to streams and seasonal flows. Many water features and beautiful historic mill sites.
No structure currently on site. Decent road access. Old stone walls. Remnants from open pasture in the 1800's. This is a 'start from scratch' site.
About the town of Acworth....
We are a tiny town of about 900 people. We are 45 minutes north of Keene, NH. We are a hill town, and there is drastic elevation change throughout.
There is a real sense of New England style community with local events like winter coffee houses, Cider pressing parties, wood fired pizza night at the general store (the social hub) and informative presentations. Neighbors help neighbors. Many folks are self employed.
A bit about the land trust members.....
We are a diverse bunch. Our employment, interests and skills vary widely, but at the core we share common goals of sustainable living, affordable housing, land stewardship, and love and kindness for all living things.
Most of us have school aged kids and our educational styles vary as well.
Most of our homes are off grid.
