European Walnut issues .

I have been clearing some walnuts planted by the other gardeners who work in our orchard here at La Ravardiére ( planted by our old friends -Sciurus vulgaris ) and wonder how long it would be before it would be safe to plant other stuff in the ground near by . The roots are probably still alive abnd will send up shoots for a year or two yet I suspect
I looked at this thread but it was about Black walnut not european walnut .

Any one any suggestions apart from Hazel which does not appear to be effected ( and planted all over by the same folks )
