Compost chute

So, I have this dream of cutting my veggies and dropping the compostable items in a tube that runs at an angle out the cob wall into the compost pile.

I haven't composted other than a heap. A friend said the rotating barrel was the easiest. In my mind this works like a bingo barrel.

What would you suggest to be the best method for dream compost shoot? Also, should I think of something to keep critters out of the shoot? There will be a lid on the end in the kitchen. Maybe a rubber funnel shape that opens more when full. But doesn't open in the opposite direction?

I imagine a 4-5" diameter pipe that leads into a worm bin would be much simpler, and maybe even faster and more effective. I think that having the chute lead into a rotating bin would be much more complicated to get sealed from critters, and having to detach and reattach the chute every time you want to spin the bin would get old fast.
