KennE, sounds like a nice place. Can you post some pictures?

Here is a website where some folks have modified an in ground pool as a garden area.

Are the mobile homes like campers?
There are folks out there who might want to use the frame and axles of trailers. Maybe put them on Craigslist?

I am curious as to what your thoughts are for the future? I think once you have a goal and a potential wish list started that will be a great step in finding innovative and creative suggestions plans.

You said it was once a small horse farm and 1/2 is under fence, how is the pasture? With fences already in place and a big barn, sounds like you could definitely raise some critters. Depending on your preference and outlook there would be great potential there.

As Miles stated, are the mobile homes like campers or are they old singlewide trailers? If they are they can be gutted and entirely rebuilt on the frames. If nothing else they can be dismantled and recycled into numerous supplies for all kinds of projects. If the frames are unsalvageable they could always be scrapped and the money used elsewhere. They could also be turned into chicken coops/critter housing, etc. with some modifications or even storage buildings. Craigslist is a great idea if you can't use them also. I know around here folks always seem to be looking for them - mainly as a base for a new project.

The pool as a garden is a nice idea. Could also turn it into a pond/add fish/run hydroponics/irrigation/rain catcher...

It sounds like you have a setup with great potential! I will be looking forward to hearing more as your journey progresses.

I was planning to add critters this spring.. We are going to tare down the old mobile home this year. I'll being reusing any/all the materials that I can. What can't be reused will be recycled or scraped. Also planning to try and put in a food forest in the front of the property. Still not sure if I'm going to fix the pool or turn it into a fish system..
