Hi Kevin, I have a couple of related questions.

One is, have you eaten the annual nettle Urtica urens? It's the common nettle where I live, but it flowers when still very small, and then often seeds early too. By the time there is enough to harvest it is usually at least flowering, sometimes in seed.

Second question is around the whole eating nettles before or after they flower/seed. What's been your experience of that and the issues of whatever it is in the leaves that changes as the plant goes through it's yearly cycle? Do you notice any differences between eating raw (smoothies) or cooked?
