Hello all, I'm looking for fellow Permies in South West, MI, (Preferably near Grand Rapids) but anywhere nearby also. My intention is that we can exchange a fair amount of knowledge, energy & genetic diversity. In the true spirit of Permaculture, I believe we ought to take advantage of our local resources. I personally would rather exchange or purchase from someone local than online catalogs. We could take turns hosting plant exchange potluck events. We can also possibly incorporate a PETS (People Energy Trading System). I want to gather together a group of people who are passionate about this design system. By working together we can save each other from high nursery bills. We all stand to potentially develop our projects much quicker & more efficiently.

Please offer advice, opinions, knowledge, etc.

Regards,
Brian

Wish you the best of luck Brian. I'm over in the thumb and would love to hear more permies getting together.

Yes! I'm in GR and feel very alone trying to figure all this stuff out on my own. I've been puttering in my yard for six years, but now I'd like to really commit to permaculture principles.

My wife and I are in Alleghan county, about an hour from GR. Also about an hour from KZoo. About equally inconvenient to either urban center ;) If you do FaceBook you might look up Van-Kal Permaculture. It's a pretty active group with a bunch of permaculture folks hanging in SW Michigan generally. Peter Bane and Keith Johnson are in Muskegon.
