After shopping around for product liability insurance for a farmers market stand it seems that most companies are not that interested in insuring small scale businesses, and their "policy minimums" can be rather substantial.

So I was wondering who people use for product liability insurance, and how much you are paying?

The two quotes I remember off the top of my head are:

1.State Farm came in at $475 for a $500,000 policy.
2. Campbell Risk management came in at $275 for twice the coverage of State Farm.

Is this something that you are compelled to buy, to satisfy a landlord, mortgage company etc., or do you simply want to protect yourself ?

Some farmers markets require liability insurance in order to participate. The one I'm at this year only requires it for those who are wine vendors, but encourages everyone to have coverage.
