We are going to build a 5000 litre water tank for storing potable water. Offering hands-on experience and show you how to construction a Rainwater Catchment System. Cement, sand and chicken wire are the main building materials to create a very durable water tank. Because of the darkness and coolness inside this container the water quality is much better and longer preserved than in plastic cisterns. We hope to create a ripple effect and students to go out and build more of these watertanks in Istra and the rest of Croatia. This 7 day practical course will be lead by Paul Akkerman, an expert from Holland, who has given many workshops in cistern building for agricultural and household purposes. These projects make the people more independent from state or commercial water suppliers and give them access to clean water right at their own home.
