Hey Robert, welcome to Permies!
As far as will the trees resprout, probably not, most pines don't resprout from old wood. Pitch Pine is the only one that I know of off the top of my head. A few other conifers resprout, such as redwood trees, and I have known people who called all conifers pine trees. If you could post a picture I could try to fully ID the tree to be even more certain but it's still a very small percentage of all coniferous trees that have the ability to resprout from the stump.
