Farming Mentor Needed
We are a NEW farming family (Mom, Dad, 4 kids), with an older, established, 7 acre (or so) orchard, located in NW Florida. (Santa Rosa County, FL, in Allentown, a small area just north of Milton, FL)
The orchard primarily consists of peach
trees, grape vines, and blackberries.
There is a large portion within the orchard that is available to plant cash crops.
Infrastructure is in place, including well and
water lines.
We have the place to garden/farm. . . But, our farming knowledge and
experience is limited.
So, we need a gardening/farming mentor.
The ideal person (or persons)
should be available on weekends (not weekdays), and who ...
--has practical
gardening, farming, and/or orchard experience
--is able to help us maintain and improve the orchard
--is able to suggest and help in planting crops throughout the year for us, them, and market (if possible)
--can suggest markets and/or ways to
sell our fruits and vegetable
In return, we would be willing to equally share in the bounty of food and any monetary profits generated from such an endeavor.
We are not religious in any way, but we do consider ourselves conservative, with strong family values.
