Please help if you can!!! I want answers! Guinea Hog answers, that is.

I want to raise a few Guinea Hogs for my small homestead. I am hoping someone knows a little about them and can tell me if they can feed off of eucalyptus tree scraps and iceplant.
I would also like to know where I can find a list or lists of animals that can be fed iceplant and eucalyptus as that is about all I have to offer right now.

eucalyptus is mildly to severely poisonous to most animals I know about, including pigs.

I am not sure about Ice plant however I have a few thoughts.

Not sure where you are from, but Ice Plant is something which grows in hot dry areas like SoCal. In general, Pigs are not the best creatures for that kind of climate. Pigs are much more forest and forest-edge creatures. They cannot regulate their body temps well.

I would look toward goats as a potential. But without more information I can;t be of help.

Bottom line, Guinea Hogs will not eat eucalyptus and probably would destroy the ice plants in short order even if they did not eat them.

None of my livestock will touch eucalyptus. Not horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, rabbits, ducks, chickens, nor pigs.

I haven't tried feeding ice plants to any of them. But surely ice plants wouldn't regrow aggressively enough to provide continual livestock feed. My ice plants are very slow growing. Plus they are poorly rooted so that they would be readily pulled out by grazing or rooting.

As Andrew pointed out, pigs overheat easily. Hot environments are not suited for them unless they are provided cool shade and a wet wallow. Plus light colored ones will sunburn.

Guinea Hogs will eat grass, multiple pasture plants such as brassicas, grasses, turnips, alfalfa, peas, beans, squash, and on but they will not eat either of the items you mentioned.

The only animal I know of that eats eucalyptus is the koala. I don't know of any animal that eats Ice plant.
