I give this book 5 out of 10 acorns.

There are indeed detailed drawings of possible chicken houses to build, but a person would need to bring extensive carpentry / construction skills and experience to the project. In places, the book advises, "if you don't know how to do this hire a professional."

I have built a chicken house (10x12 with shed roof) with attached run, various goat feeders and shelters, which is only to say I do have rudimentary construction skills. Probably, I could build one of the simplest structures from the drawings provided, but would not attempt it until I had thoroughly reviewed the materials lists against the drawings. At first reading it appeared some of the lumber needed is not listed.

Oak or cedar plywood is recommended in one place for its resistance to insects and moisture, in another for it's retention of insects and moisture. Clearly this is the help of the spell checker, and I think we can guess the intended meaning. But if I can see this flaw in a realm I understand completely, it undermines my confidence in the possibility of similar inaccuracies and or omissions where I do not have a clear understanding, and have to rely totally on the printed word.

The book seems more like a rough draft, as yet lacking the benefits of focus, proofreading and editing.

These drawings might be worth their price to a skilled builder who would rather work from a plan than start from scratch, AND has equally extensive experience in chicken husbandry, so that he understands chicken's requirements for himself.
