Hey Premies!
Just stumbled on this really cool site! We’re one of the many not so community communities near Tampa FL. Although we knew all along the pit falls on our end as founders and that prospective members are always as human as us. Still feel there’s a permaculture minded family or persons that would be happy here in good old hot buggy, humid, not so progressive, nor community friendly Florida. Terrible way to start, but what the heck let’s be honest. Of course our money hunger, corporate fascist, competitive, war mongering, leading the world in consumption and waste, country isn’t a pro-community minded place.
Truly we’re here and functioning, but really need good help. Our website’s embarrassing because of never being updated but we’re a working sustainable, permaculture, diverse farm with housing, equipment, tools, knowledge, experience, cash flow, with near-by-dumpsters, with an old community welcome sign still hanging.
I really like the Principles of Permaculture stated in Toby Hemenway’s “Gaia’s Garden” second addition and we really don’t have time to waste and we need to be productive. So… interested in living here near Tampa FL? If so go to step 2 and check out our listing in the www.ic.org site under Ecofarmfl Community in Florida. Thanks for this great site!

Jon, I just checked out your listing and website. I am impressed by both. I would suggest posting links to both sites here at permies. Looks like you have been working on this for 18 years? So that tells me you are seriously committed to your farm. Good luck and hope you find some partners here at permies.

Hi Jeanine, Thanks for the kind comment! www.ecofarmfl.org is our site. www.ic.org is the Intentional Communities site. Shortly I'll post some pictures. The Sustainable Living radio show we produce is on our Community radio station airing out of Tampa Florida. It's a really cool station and airs on line at www.wmnf.org. I've been doing the show since 2005 and we have had a lot of shows on permaculture, with Permie Icons such as Peter Bane, Toby Hemenway, etc.. I'm just a farmer and not a great radio host, but it's worth the effort. Yes ecofarmfl was created almost 20 years ago, but somehow I've been drawn to this general topic of alternative living since the late seventies. True, it isn't easy but at least we can live knowing we're trying to change our direction of destruction to a greener loving world!

Hi Jon, nice having the opportunity to learn about your project, and really nice is that you have stumbled onto permies forums. If you want to share some information on the achievements gained by the projects you are involved in think about arting a thread in the projects forum so we can keep track of your story! It would be great to see some photos and learn more about all you and your community have built.
Welcome on permies!
