The subject headline kind of gives a new meaning to the 3 - P's of business, but it works for me in this context. This thread is a 'call-out' to Permaculture practitioners around the globe... Nice use of rocks in the waterway... Lawton Gabion-esque! Any luck with organic matter capture? Have you tried planting in / around the rocks to take advantage of any moisture retention, as well as night time condensation off of rocks?

What next on the docket for projects?

Nice outfit

What are you up to? Any projects of your own underway?

Presently we are working on completing our Crater Garden, going on 18 months of work! Covers over an acre and is super awesome. Will post some pics / vid over the next week.

Look forward to seeing more P.P. in P. from other folks soon.

I just built them so no time for organic material to accumulate. Planting anything here is fraught with peril because of the hordes of deer. I may put some deer-resistant native plant seeds in the channel at some point, but they're likely to just wash downstream.

Not a surprise to see 25 deer and 100 elk in our fields from time to time. We have had good luck with thorny varieties that coppice well (they can handle the grazing). Also, we spray our new plantings in Plant Skydd prior to planting. It is approved by the OMRI and is essentially powder bovine blood. They won't touch it! We have planted... sea buckthorn, black locust, barberry and hawthornes to name a few.

Glad you've successfully thwarted the browsers, Tim.

Here's a project I'm working on which uses the principle of function stacking or integrating rather than segregating components, a planting of citrus in an especially warm and protected spot on the south side of rainwater tanks. I'm still in the process of preparing the area for the second tank and will post photos of progress in future:

I like the frame-work for your design. Most citrus can't get below 24-26F for survival. Those 'black' tanks would be a great start. I might also throw in some rock mulch if possible.?. Once you finalize and start the process, keep us advised.

Here is a the first intro video on the Crater Garden install. This takes place in August 2014, but believe it or not, we are presently continuing the project (18 months later!).
