Small woods has been hit by the emerald ash bug. Can I harvest some timber and make a small timber frame cabin?? I know ash is now rot resistant and powder post beetles love the stuff???

Yes you can harvest it and build, like you said knowing its strengths and weaknesses helps do so in a way that you can get the best product out of your labor.

Ash also splits well, that can be another weakness or strength depending on design. It will split itself under certain loads.

Most of all just be aware of any soil contact with ash members, this will be the thing that speeds all the issues.

I was figuring a post and beam structure. 20 x 20. Nothing big just a little cabin in the woods. Get away and enjoy thing.

Thanks for the info
