Finney Farm has space for one or possibly two people to work and learn with us through the end of the season in November. We are located in a beautiful area, in the foothills of the North Cascade Mountains with amazing hiking/camping/exploring opportunities. We're also a 40 minute drive from Mount Vernon, which is about about 70 miles from Seattle or Vancouver BC.

A great deal of information about our farm may be found on our website www.finneyfarm.org We are experienced hosts and offer a great educational experience for our WWOOFers and interns. We have hosted hundreds of people in the past 15 years (our farm began in 1989) and have formed lasting friendships with many or most (three of our current long term residents are former interns/WWOOFers!). We have one intern scheduled to begin in July, and one who has been with us but will be leaving shortly and returning in August. While we do have plenty of shorter term WWOOF applicants, we would prefer to host people who are interested in a longer and more educational stay. We would LOVE to find someone to begin in April if at all possible, but May would also be a good start time.

We offer good food and lodging (a variety of options), and education in exchange for 30 hours of labor each week. We have about 2 acres in annual food production, a half acre forest garden, an acre of 95 year old blueberry bushes, and another acre in perennials or orchard including a large medicinal herb garden. We also have a builder in residence with many years of professional experience in timber frame, post and beam, log construction, recycled materials, tiny homes, and more-we do have building projects in process and may be able to offer training and work in this area. We have lots going on including a few music festivals this summer, but one of our neatest endeavors is our seed distro project. We grow, package, and distribute seed to schools, food banks, and low income households at no charge--we typically distribute over 8000 packages each year. Additionally, we have a variety of educational outreach projects this season including planning/planting/managing an onsite foodbank garden, designing and overseeing a local school garden in collaboration with the Farm to School project, teaching backyard gardening workshops at local food banks, and designing/installing garden space for the Head Start preschool program. Hosting long term helpers means that we are able to offer them the opportunity for more of a leadership position--we would love for some of these outreach activities to be bottom lined by one of our WWOOFers/interns rather than one of us.

Additionally, we are a working collective with 25+ years of experience in community and for those who envision themselves collaborating on a permaculture land project with other people...we might be able to offer some learning opportunities with regard to organization, structure, legal requirements and more. At least we can share what doesn't work

We look forward to hearing from you! Please contact us for more information at info@finneyfarm.org

Thank you!
Jennie Goforth
