My lawn in the Chicago area has a lot of weeds, including creeping charley.  I like the idea of putting an inch of compost on the lawn to improve the soil base but would you also suggest adding the Ringer fertilizer too?

I would wait a few weeks before putting on the fertilizer.

If your lawn has no wood chips, I might not put any fertilizer on until the fall.
