Hi again David - I have a friend who regularly hunts for chanterelles (we are in the PNW) and she said she is going to throw a bunch in the blender with some water and sprinkle that in an area on my farm under Douglas firs. I'm curious to know you think of that method?

I mentioned it in another post. In Sepp Holzer's permaculture book he hangs mushrooms in a mesh bag over an area he wants inoculated, and puts a little chime"tapper" (something soft) by it so it releases it's spores. I'm not really sure why you would want to blend it? Seems to me blending is sort of a destructive process. I would just make sure you try and inoculate an area that is similar to where they were picked. Ie tress species, leaf litter or grassy. We used to just place wine caps face down on wood chips if we wanted new sites.

Destructive is what I thought too but since I didn't know for sure I didn't want to offend her. I wonder if she was thinking she could cover more area by blending it. I like the idea of hanging the bags with a wind chime.
Thanks!
