Peace community. I am looking to relocate my very unique family of 5 from Seattle (self labeled the hub of open minded thinkers) to somewhere in Washington where we can purchase an acreage and start on the path towards self sufficiency. My husband is from Gambia, West Africa (also known as little Jamaica) and I am from rural Nebraska, we are muslim. I have christian roots and we are open minded to all people, religions, and lifestyles. We have three children, each with a different color skin, and our youngest has an extra set of chromosomes aka Downs Syndrome. We do exports to Africa and do promotion, production, dj, and concerts in the reggae/world music scene, my professional career prior to being a full time mom was non-profit, business management, and education/childcare. We are looking for at least 5 acres(the more the better) with a minimum of a well. We want to have a good amount of
chickens and sheep, a food forest, and eventually a whole communal compound but realize we will have to WORK up to our grand vision. We are interested in many different types of alternative housing/building but would settle for a mobile, stick built, anything that is on the right piece of
land. Our main difficulty is looking for the right property with Owner financing terms. Given we will still have occasional business and family in Seattle we would prefer something on the west side but the right place is key. My search keeps taking me to Ferry county because there are more owner financed homes with large acres. This week we are looking at homes in Newport, Coleville, Republic, Rice, and Randle. We have seriously considered Skagit county, and the Olympic Peninsula. We will go anywhere for the right land and community. Does anyone love their community? Why? Do you know somewhere a family like ours would be welcomed or even unwelcome? Do you know anything about any of the areas we are looking in now? Do you know of a property in Washington with owner terms? Appreciate your responses!
