First, I hope I'm putting this in the right section and that I'm not duplicating an older thread (I did search and nothing came up, but one never knows).
So, earlier I was looking up pictures of vernacular architecture and I ended up stumbling across this German-language TV series from 2002,
Schwarzwaldhaus 1902 - Leben wie vor 100 Jahren. It's more like
The 1900 House and
Pioneer House than
Tales From the Green Valley or
Tudor Monastery Farm, but I still find it really interesting. It's basically sticking a family of five in a traditional Black Forest farmhouse and having them live like it's 1902. There's some history and a lot of hands-on "how they did that." I could do without the human drama aspect since I prefer my edutainment dry and aloof, but different strokes and all that. I wish I could understand more of what they're saying (four years of German in high school 20 years ago is functionally no German at all and I was super proud of myself when I recognized the word for potato), but I got the gist of most of it from the visual context.
Season 1:
There is a second season, but I didn't link it because I didn't want the post to be too long. It's on the same YouTube channel. Edit: There's only one more episode after the four-part series that's like a retrospective/ follow-up episode. I misread the German Wikipedia page and thought there was more and then posted without watching past episode four. Shame on me!
Episode 5:
(I hope it's okay to post links and that they actually work, I've never done this before.)
