Well for many years we were known as the "lucky ones" who had elm trees that survived the dutch elm disease..no longer

starting 2 years ago our elm trees in our area started a sudden dieback..we have only  a few left alive..there are dead elms standing all over the entire part of our state.

one good thing has come of it..we have found out how much longer elm wood burns than oak and maple..it holds fire forever !!

our wood supplier has been cutting down all the dead elms in the area for firewood, it is heavy, hard and holds fire really good, we got mostly elm in our firewood this year.

so I was wondering, was it just N Central Michigan, or has this elm die off affected other areas the past 2 years as well??

Mo-om! You're embarassing me! Can you just read a tiny ad like a normal person?
