My partner's been in town working on the truck for a few days, so I did the cow chores by myself this morning. Dang cow wouldn't go to the stanchion for anything. Had to slap her hind end to get her to move at ALL and got really angry at the whole situation, which is basically the worst thing you can do before milking. Obviously got less milk this morning than we have in several days, when we had been getting slight daily increases. And my cow thinks I'm a meany now, so I'm mad at myself for getting so riled up. But she wouldn't MOVE! Why is this getting harder instead of easier??? Oh, because my partner isn't here and cows hate any change in routine. Right. Sigh.
My dog ran off again, about an hour after the milking thing was finally over. We've been keeping him mostly tied up lately but apparently I gave him one too many hours of freedom this morning. Sigh.
My rye bread first refused to bake and then! I burned it. Sigh.
AND my partner just called from the emergency room. A piece of metal is lodged in his eyeball and he's waiting for the optometrist to remove it. !!!
It's not even 11 am! It can only get better from here. It can only get better from here. It can only get better from here.
Maybe it's time for a walk in the woods. Sit against a tree and breathe.
Although I don't wish to see other people struggling, it is always slightly reassuring to me when I find out that the world is not just against us personally. I don't think that is the meaning of "misery loves company" but maybe it is. I hope your partner is alright. I'm sure the cow will forgive you or at least act differently in the next few interactions. It might be an astrological thing because our cows have been crazy lately. I [s]sometimes[/s] frequently react the same way to our cows and then feel remorseful or silly. Then things get back to normal. Good luck and know that you are not alone.
Something must be done about this. Let's start by reading this tiny ad:
