Subtitles for Sepp Holzer's talk (Paul's vids)

Thanks Paul for recording part of Sepp's talk in Tacoma and making it available to us.  I saw a couple people comment on YouTube asking for subtitles.  I even had a difficult time making out some of what was said and I'm sure non-native speakers find it even more difficult without subs.

So I made some.

Attached are subtitles for the four Sepp clips.  If anyone has corrections (something I wasn't able to pick out or where I heard it wrong) just reply here and I'll fix it.

Paul, in the last clip you said you had more that you were working on pushing up to YouTube... is that still happening?  I can transcribe them before you push them up if you like.

(The attachment is really a Zip.  The .txt extension is just to get around the upload filter.)

Edit: updated the subs to fix a couple typos.

Neat!

It took me a while to figure it out.

I have it set up on the fourth one.  Did I do it right?  Can you see it?

It didn't work for me just clicking on the youtube link.  I downloaded the first post's file, but I don't know how to use it.

Sweet!  I didn't realize that YouTube has proper support for subtitles.  Here I was thinking you might need to bake them into the video itself and upload a new video.  But this is much better.

I corrected a couple typos in the first three files, so use this v2 for the other vids.

As a bonus I even see that there's support for automatically translating the subs.  So this helps even for other languages.

To view the subtitles, follow Paul's link and then click on the "CC" button at the bottom of the video player.  (Closed Captions)  This will turn on the English subtitles.  If you want another language after English is turned on, go back to the "CC" button and there's a "Translate Captions" option which will let you choose other languages and it will try to automatically translate the subtitles into that language for you.

OK, part 4 works for me, but not the others--no option for close caption at the bottom.  It is hard to hear otherwise, but reading it I am picking up words I used to know back in high school!

Paul has only done the 4th one so far.

Now that he knows it works for both you and me he'll probably do the first three.

They look good.

And I just noticed there's also a button to view the transcript, so you can see the subtitles separate from the video if one is so inclined.

It looks like embedded videos (like on your Sepp Holzer page) don't provide the subtitle controls.  So the only way to view them is on YouTube.  It would be helpful to point this out so people are aware of it.
