Hello all.....

Really happy to have found this website!  My family and I have finally settled in our new home after 2 years of solid looking!  We moved in on halloween2010.

We found 4 1/2 acres wayyyy out in the middle ga countryside.
factors for our search
ability to go off grid
ability to have small amount of livestock
ability to have gardens
defendability
and peace and quiet!

We are striving for a self sustaining lifestyle....Not only because we believe we should be living in harmony with nature but also because we believe the world as we know it s about to change and want to be ready for the transition....

We have lots of projects and ideas we are looking fwd to trying....

looking fwd to learning and exchanging ideas.....

Welcome Ben!

How wonderful that you have found your land - sounds like your off the grid and maybe even without power, sewer and phone - wow!

How what region/climate are you living in?  And how are you liking it so far..... ?

It sounds like your off to a great adventure Ben, thanks for posting.

Thx Jami for the welcome.......We are not off grid yet........we where fortunate to be in the position to find a nice custom built home with everything ready (power, phoneline etc....)  we have a septic and well.....so its no so harsh lol.....we are however moving towards the direction of disconnecting from the grid.....

My wife Jen is 30, I am 31, and our daughter is 4 1/2.

We live in middle ga USDA zone8A....30miles from the interstate, 8 miles from the closest town that has a pop of 1500.
20 miles from a town of 8,000

we live at the end of a dirt road and have zero immediate neighbors......

That's great Ben.  You know you can put your zone under your name - if you click on profile button in the line of buttons at the right-side upper corner of the page, you will find your signature and other blocks of info you can fill out to give your permies profile more zing!

Glad to have you join us....
