I have got a precious seed packet of maca.
We are in cool climate were temperature goes down to minus 5°C (that's five degrees below freezing) at night.
Do you grow this crop in autumn or spring?
And as it's a brassica - does it cross pollinate with other members of the family? I'm not versed in seed saving but would like to safe these seeds.

Maca seems to be a pretty hardy plant. Said to repel potato pests if planted with them.

Check out the maca plant data base at the bottom of the page for more info after the pictures.

One plant I haven't tried yet but want to.

I've been wanting to try growing maca since I found out about it's amazing properties and started using it.  Where were you able to find seeds, I've been unable to locate any.

I live in a sub tropical climate so not sure if it needs more cool days then we get, anyone know?
