I'm brand new here and I'm looking for help in fixing up a house in Inkster, Michigan. Specifically, I'd like to cob the interior/exterior/floor, possibly thatch the roof, and erect a couple of cob outbuildings. Anyone out there in SE Michigan who teaches such skills? My project would be great teaching site. Alternatively, is there anyone in the SE Michigan looking for help on a cob project? I'm looking for an opportunity to learn.
Not in your area, we will teach cob classes in Western Montana this year, but wanted to give this post a bump since you didn't get any bites. Good luck. If you don't find anyone to teach/help, use your outbuildings as practice and do self teach. I recommend "the cob builders handbook" by becky bee and the hand sculpted house by Ianto Evans. Links provided below.
I'm building a cob artist's retreat on my land (40 acres) in southern Colorado. I have a workshop scheduled July 1 - 29, 2018. Would love to have some permies attend!

PS if anyone can tell me how to start a post, I'd be quite thankful.
Hi Wendy,
Did you ever find anyone interested? I would suggest getting in contact with Deanne Bednar at the Strawbale Studio in Oxford. She teaches natural building classes and does thatching. Here is her website: https://strawbalestudio.org/
Stinging nettles are edible. But I really want to see you try to eat this tiny ad:
