The Mil Abrazos Community Land Trust in New Mexico is looking for Interns

Our nonprofit organization just purchased 32 acres (20 irrigated) of farmland in Dilia, along the Pecos River, 30 min south of Las Vegas and 1.5 hr from Santa Fe.

Our mission is to acquire and hold land in trust in order to provide for permanently affordable housing, as well as affordable access to land for such purposes as sustainable agriculture, cottage industries and co-operatives by forever removing the land from the speculative market.

The goal of our project is to create an agrarian community and educational center that seeks to demonstrate and disperse evolving permaculture principles near and wide, and teach technologies and strategies appropriate for the biome we live in.

Interns must be interested in being at the foundation of what could be a fascinating project. Must be able to do research, writing, construction, presentations and gardening to feed themselves.

We are in a start-up phase, currently building accommodations for interns and visitors, repairing the flood (acequia) irrigation system and cleaning up the property.

In the Spring, we will begin a facilitated process aimed at creating a Master Plan, drawing on the many local talents in Permaculture, holistic land management, watershed restoration, as well as organizations dealing with food justice, veterans, summer camps, hospice care and more.

Hello!
What you have going on sounds like a good start to something awesome!
I would be interested in helping you get this all started.
I've worked in a few intentional communities, farming (growing fruits and vegetables) and taking care of livestock. I don't have much experience in anything else. I am good with tools and construction.
I am a good laborer.
I'm a 26 yo white male looking to get back into the self sustainable lifestyle again.
Please let me know if you could use someone like me.
Thanks!

Love the concept and the plans.
Video looks quite remarkable.

As I understand it, this is in the Planning Process trying to acquire funds, or is there some tangible works/activities going on with people living there?
