this project has been on my mind for about 3 years now. I am finally getting around to posting about it. a couple days before or after Christas I bought a self leveling laser level. I have just recently been uning it just after the sun goes down so I can see the laser. I will be posting some picture soon of the Property that I am designing.

When I was a kid my brother and had a very small dam in the photo below, not even 2 feet tall. I would like to explore putting in one again in that area. I used to make the best mud there that made the coolest sound when you tried to pull your boots out.
The soil is very clay, there is a power pole and line that go through the site to my uncles house. there is also a pipe on the site to the my dad's house, that house was my grandmas and grandpas house, I would not be surprised if it becomes my house some day the county GIS map says that there is about a max 21 or 22 foot elevation difference on site, I still need to verify that.
The total property is about 200 acres with 5 valleys and 3 active springs.
Some history about the site.
In the west facing pictures that you see the building where used to raise pigs after WWII the family did that until they could not make any money doing it anymore. right now they are used to house an International Scout and a sprayer. Domestic pigs have been in the pasture within the past 2 years. which make it difficult to use a laser level sometimes. there is a very large oak tree.
I have a lot of reading to do on this forum. I am currently doing research as to what types of plants I should establish there.
