Creating habitats for beneficial critters

I am starting my urban food forest garden this coming spring and would love to attract some beneficial critters to the land scape providing  shelter  to have them  as helpers for pest protection. I live in Ontario and a lot of amphibians and reptiles are at risk for habitat loss i would love to create a safe space within the garden to attract these beneficial creatures but cannot offer the space for  a full size pond is there any other ways to get amphibians and or reptiles in the garden. Would love some feed back

I feel your question is concerning how to make water sources for critters.  This can be done as simple as setting a bowl of water in your garden or a birdbath set on the ground.

Creating a habitat for them will attract them. Rock piles and brush piles will attract them as habitats.  Having plants to attract bugs will also provide a food source.  Compost piles might also attract them. Making a few hugel beds.

Its not soo much about water sources as it is finding a way to protect any of these great animals. i understand that having a food forest attracts a number of beneficial creatures but not specifically amphibians or reptiles. Having a water source is possible but not a relatively good size one unfortunately. Soo i appreciate the feedback i want to see snakes and toads if any.
