Husband and wife looking for lodging for work and learning

Hi!  My name is Candice and my husband's name is Zak and we're ready to start our journey to one day have a full self sustaining small farm. We are looking for an opportunity to learn hands on and work hard for housing. We are looking for a long term opportunity and have a dog and a cat. We are currently in New York but are ready to go south. We have done tons of research and learned what we could from books as well as the internet. We're hoping for something in Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama or northern Florida. We would like to gain firsthand experience in agricultural/dairy farming, ranching and overall farming know how.
