Marianne Cicala wrote:1/2 of the intended rice patties are in (3 of 6)! Busy doing research about crawfish being raised in the patties or started in barrels in the greenhouse for the winter.....a lot to figure out. We're zone 7 a/b but the past couple of years have certainly displayed temps well below "0" and weekly temps not getting above 20F. Any input is very much appreciated.

I think it depends on your variety. We get wild crayfish around here and we get -30 during the winter. They hibernate in mud I believe. I've wanted to do crayfish as well. Such a fun thing!

Hi Marianne;

What a fabulous place you've created! Very impressed, and excited to see all of the ideas you've implemented. So great to see the concepts in action. We've only been on our property for just under 2 years, so we have a long way to go, but it is wonderful to see what can be accomplished with some thought, hard work and ingenuity. Well done! (You can see the thread I started on our property here: https://permies.com/t/56720/projects/garden-fence-finally-finished-rainbows )

I would love to see some updates when you can spare a moment from your fabulous projects!

Cheers
Tracy

What a wonderfully thought out design, great job! Did you start with land that had been clear cut? Did the rice paddies get planted this year?

This is absolutely incredible to watch.  Just skimmed through the timeline.  Is there a good website or photos series of this property?  Please keep updating!
