In 1994 I got a brand new book about Virtual Reality. This has been a great fantasy of mine. In that book the author also talks about a magical machine where you give it a model and it spits out a plastic version of it. Kind of like a primitive star trek replicator. In the book it talked about UV cured resins. My own printer is of a different sort, it's a FDM printer (fused deposition modeling). In plain language it's like a pastry bag that uses plastic instead of frosting.  But anyway, back in 1994 that felt like science fiction and now I have one sitting on the table in my shop.

Today I got more news of science fiction becoming reality: biological computers! (link to Wired article)

Another article closer to permies interests: Will You Eat CRISPR Produce?

Maybe if I live long enough I'll get to play with this too!

One day a chicken crossed a road and nobody questioned the motives. Thank you tiny ad.
