Hello!

Would you like to live for almost free 10 minutes from a beautiful beach on the Mediterranean, close to Granada and Malaga? I'm looking for a "land-mate" to share my rented land for a year (at least...)

Rent would be around €300 for the year! And food is skipped, grown and staples bought through a consumer group, so works out v cheap.

in the area in which you would stay i would like to create a subtropical food forest, as there are already some big trees - avocado and custard apple, and I've planted more.

It would involve building a simple structure to stay in (with my help, and that of volunteers - i host them in tents, usually one or two at a time with little gaps) while camping. I have the materials to make a simple timber frame Adobe building. All of these things are open to discussion.

There is a shared kitchen / living room area which is my next area of improvement, hope to have that redone by the winter.
There is a big field to grow veg, and would like to collaborate on growing crops as a commercial venture, sharing any outgoings and proceeds half half. I would love to try quinoa on a large scale, but am open to suggestions. So far I have had seasons of pumpkins and broad beans, apart from my smaller garden, where I have more interesting things like yakon and chayote as well as tomatoes and cabbage and whatever else.

What I am looking for in a land mate:
Handy and independent, and enthusiastic about plants and nature esp sub tropical and or medicinal.
Non stoner (i am trying to control my habits) with fairly balanced energetic levels and mind.
Digging and dreaming in good balance! able to work towards realistic (yet magical) goals.
Generally fairly balanced - no major mental health issues, too many intense experiences recently.
Also great would be an interest in Localised organising (we are in the process of beginning a transition town and farmers market) food sovereignty, anarchy.
There is a nice community here, every Wednesday we meet to help out on a different farm (permablitzing) and I would like to host more activities on the land: cinema, art afternoons, workshops etc...

There is a waterfall shower in a stream in the land, will have finished a solar shower soon too, solar energy, plenty of drinking water, will even probably have WiFi soon too, when I hook up the receiver. Gas and solar cooking. Oh and a cat, chici, and sometimes you see snakes about!

There is a national park with mountains behind the land, and one with small unspoiled coves a ten minute cycle away. It's all pretty idyllic apart from the basic structures on the land, and the fact that you would be camping to start with. The area where you would be constructing gets humid in the winter so you'd need a stove.

I would say a month trial for both of us to begin with?

About me: I try to be all the things I ask of you above, i'm easy going , but can be a bit stressy if things not getting done, I need to see progress to be able to relax!
I am open minded, do my chi Kung in the morning but don't know about chacras. I am apparently emotionally balanced, it takes a lot to ruffle my feathers, I like building community, get on with everyone, avoid conflict, love music, playing drums, want more art crafts and decoration in my life, but a bit stuck on achieving basic necessities first here...

Interested? Questions?

Do you host vacation retreats and How does that work?

Hey Jack - this sounds amazing - congratulations on what you've built up so far! Ddi you get your landmate? I'm also in Andalusia, but probably not that close to you if you're up towards Malaga and Granada? I'm further towards Gibraltar, in Alcaidesa.

Apart from looking for a land-mate, do you have any other projects going on?

Hey Jack,
You first posted this several months ago so things might have moved along since then, but if you are still looking and just in general if you want to share more about what you are doing then I would love to talk with you! I'm currently looking for a base in southern Spain for at least half of the year, while trying to build projects in Guinea-Bissau (and perhaps Mexico and Peru). In the past 6 months, I've spent much of the time volunteering at a site near Motril learning more about syntropic farming in a Mediterranean context. I am about to return to a site in the Sierra de Cádiz for 6 weeks to volunteer and try to do some designs of degraded arroyo areas there. I am networked in some with the SE Spain permaculture network REPESEI and the new association for the Ecosystem Restoration Camps, but still looking for a base and community. My email is helenaperksatyahoo.com

I've never won anything before. Not even a tiny ad:
