At 1:40 of this short video (6:38 total) it is discussed that certain microorganisms have a specific gene in their DNA that converts harmful nitrous oxide gas into regular harmless nitrogen gas.  Nitrous Oxide gas is a much more harmful greenhouse gas than CO2.  There are also some other useful info on agroforestry experiements near Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

Don't we need poplar for our beaver boom? So not only will the beavers protect us from rampant wildfires, they will encourage poplar stands that eat greenhouse gases and poop nitrogen gas for the nitrogen-fixing bacteria in the alders to turn into plant food for more poplars?

Beavers truly will geoengineer us out of our climate chaos if we let them.

I wonder what interplanting my poplar groves with alders would be like?  It does sound like a booming potential system.  I heard that poplars have fungi within them (in lines of rot) that fix nitrogen, though I haven't been able to find subsequent studies.  Someone in Washington state, I think, was the one that I read.  I'll try to find it.

OH.   It's actually not in the rot like I thought.  Looks like it is microbes, which are in the form of endophytic symbionts (living within, and with a mutually beneficial relationship, respectively).  Heres the link (including other links) that will take you down that rabbit hole of thoughts.
