Greetings Permies,
I am looking for an apprenticeship/internship/work-exchange opportunity this winter somewhere in N. America. I've worked/wwoofed/volunteered/interned at several organic farms/communities/homesteads/schools/non-profits in the past few years in the U.S., England, France, Turkey and the West Bank. I am not an expert of any field, a student of many. I am spending this year gardening, fencing, orcharding, light constructing, etc. on some land my father hopes to retire on in S. Kentucky. I could learn all I want to know about woodland management from a country boy's perspective down here.
What I really want to learn is how to manage a woodland with hand tools. Cross-cut saw, bucksaw, axes, wooden wedges, draft animals, and much more I am sure I do not know about.
Does anybody have any ideas of where I can hope to learn these types of skills? I do not want to pay someone hundreds or thousands of dollars. I feel I am a decent worker and of sound mind. I will be happy to provide references.
I am twenty-five years old, male, 6' and 145 lbs (light, not a hulk hogan), of decent strength, flexible on diet, no allergies or illnesses, do not own a personal vehicle, willing to travel throughout N. America, no cell-phone, comfortable with many different living situations (alone/group, rustic/modern, etc.), and have experience in fields such as stone masonry, gardening, pdc certified. I've worked for $$$ before, graduated university, and know how to learn from a teacher.
