Thanks Chris for answering questions! I live in northern indiana and have 6 acres of pasture. I would like to put some heifers on it and breed them every year. What I'm wondering is how many cow/calf's can be kept on 6 acres and if I was moving them daily would I want to divide the pasture into 30 paddocks or how many paddocks? I understand that location, pasture quality, etc determines both of these but for someone starting out, what would be a good starting point? I know that you have to watch the cows and grass to zero in on size of paddocks and time allotted in paddock but I need cows to do that so that is why I ask what is the best number of cows and size of paddock to start with for me to learn. Thank you very much.

I want to thank Brandon very much for his videos and information. I have seen his videos many times, read his articles, and love the way he gets information across. I am a backer for the kickstarter and hope to convince family as well. As for questions for the podcast. I am very interested in more in depth details on the curing process. Especially when it's warmer weather. Also, what would be the best route to start a similar business to what Brandon and his family have done? I have self taught myself how to kill and butcher my own pigs. My last pig had the best bleeding thanks to his videos. I'm about to do my last large black. I would love to purchase the kickstarter that flys him out so I could learn from him but it would be 2 years til I'm at that point in life. Would he do consulting on how to start you own meatsmith? Thank you very much for all you do to help people eat good and be connected to their food.

My wife and I are newer to permaculture and alternative farming practices. We are reading lots of books, watched the free PDC from North Carolina University, and watching lots of videos, but I would like to actually visit farms to see first hand forest gardens and other farming practices. I know a number of PDC's do farm tours but unfortunately I will be unable to attend one for at least 3 years due to my work schedule. We have 8 acres that we live on and I am starting to raise animals and garden but plan on starting an acre or two food forest in the next year. What I was wondering is if there is a list of farms that offer tours or if perhaps people can share farms in their areas that offer tours. We live in Northern Indiana, but are happy to travel for the right experiences. The farm tours that I know of are Joel Salatin in Swoope, VA and Growing Powers in Milwaukee, WI. I know that neither is permaculture, but both seem to have good ideas. Anybody have any other places? Thank you for any information.
