Hi everyone, I am looking for a Sustainable /Intentional community for living.
I was exposed to some Black Mold about 4+ years ago & developed severe sudden onset Rheumatoid Arthritis & some food allergies. I have been wanting to do or be a part of a sustainable/intentional community for as long as I can remember. AND still do!!! I love growing & can grow just about anything, I love chickens & their eggs but can't eat ANY Soy products, which is in most chicken feed.
I have always just wanted to live on a little farm & do the farm thing, I'm not short on ambition, or motivation I find that working in/with the Earth is actually very healing, but there are those days...that the pain is so bad I can't even pick up a glass of water.

Recently, my landlords asked me to move; their house flooded due to a water line break & they need the rental house back to live in while their's is being repaired.
I live in Santa Fe, NM where rent is very high, economy, education & health care are now the worst in the country, and recently we were declared the Most Dangerous state in the country.
I have been selling almost everything I own, except my tools & a few items I cannot replace, I put those is a storage unit & paid the rent through December. I am probably going to be living in my truck after I get things sorted out.

I came up with this idea a few years ago of a Sustainable Shelter & have been trying to get that going with another woman. But she has finally had enough of Santa Fe & is moving to Colorado. There is one in Austin Tx. Community First Village! but you have to be a Texas resident to apply & you can't get a Texas Drivers license without an address...big ol catch 22...

My Brother offered to purchase a property in his name for this community I want to get started as long as the mortgage & insurance get paid, but property is awfully expensive here... any ideas?

If there is anyone out there that is interested in having me, I would be more than willing to discuss any terms. I know how to do a lot of stuff, I have a small SS disability income & a small savings, some tools, a little furniture; bed, a comfy chair, etc... a small Stihl Chainsaw, lots of shade cloth (essential for growing in NM) a shoe box of seeds I'v collected & my dear companion Gladys; a 16 yo Border Collie, I don't expect her to be around much longer... :-(

I have 6 days to vacate & leave the house clean, after that my email will be BarbaraZiegler505@gmail.com and I'll have limited service, my phone # is 505 660-3852 any calls will always be welcome.

Thanks,
Barbara Ziegler

So, I'm not so sure Stevia is Safe at all to use. I went to a Doctor a couple of years ago; Dr. Burton Burkson MD PhD at the Integrative medical center in Las Cruces, NM. He's very non-conventional & has been reversing Liver failure using Alpha Lipoic Acid IV's, any way, long story made short, he wanted me to cut back on sugar, so I started using Stevia. So at my appointment a few months later I told him I was totally off sugar & was using Stevia, at which point he corrected me & said Do Not Use STEVIA, go back to using raw sugar. STEVIA is very toxic to the Liver. So is Tylenol...

There is an article on line about how Dr. Burkson reversed liver failure using ALA & was scolded by the hospital for saving 2 peoples lives after they had eaten poisonous mushrooms...because...the hospital had already told the families of the patients they were going to die.... The patients are alive today, in their 80's with no sign of liver damage.

Also see Julia Shiplack's book "Honest Medicine"
You can also look up Dr. Burkson's credentials on line.

Be Well everyone!

Hi Laura, Hang in there, you can do it!! I experienced a similar illness about 2 years ago, Black Mold resulting in Rheumatoid arthritis & many allergies. Before that I was a petite-tough-as-nails-53-yo-gardener, lived on wood heat, I cut & split 5 cords of wood for a winter; the property owner wouldn't let me build a rocket mass heater....but had to move from there because of the mold.

Anyway, in my healing search I found a wonderful doctor; Dr. Burton M. Burkson MD PhD, The Integrative Medical Center in Las Cruces NM. He is not mainstream medicine, but plays the game. Please google him, his clinical studies & Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), The Alpha Lipoic Acid Breakthrough (one of his books) this is an AMAZING supplement especially for the LIVER, it can regrow a liver in the body, but affects all organs.
I went to his office & did a week of ALA Intravenously twice a day, never felt better!!! But the office visits are expensive & not covered by insurance....because they work! Be sure to use a clean form of ALA; Metabolic Maintenance is his preference. Too many common supplements come from China & are filled with toxins. Read the labels!

all the best to you, you are fortunate to have your parents to live with, although perhaps different life views & styles you have a place to go to heal. I did not.

Please feel free to write

So I too am looking for community living situation near Santa Fe, NM...because I have work here...

Hey I've been thinking of doing somewhat the same thing here, in Santa Fe NM... or somewhere. Maybe some of my ideas will help you in your search.

My thoughts were to approach the city or county; they have tons of repo-ed land & buildings everywhere & see if they could lend the land & or building or both & create a sort of community housing / teaching project for homeless or low income people (like myself); they spend a fortune on shelters & feeding homeless. So why not put that land & buildings into use; teaching people how to grow their own food, how to live efficiently, how to build a rocketmass heater. Everyone is still using woodstoves here...it makes me crazy!

So, everyone thinks SFe is a very conscious community...well sort of...we have community gardens... 2 Whole foods (whole paychecks) bla bla bla...and farmers markets, where you can get green beans for $8.00 a pound!..etc... but its not affordable for most people.
We have tons of trees that were killed over the last few years by the Ipps pine bark beetle, perfect for hugleculture...but everyone either cuts it for firewood; further spreading the beetle & smogging up the air, or takes it to the dump for shredding...

At the state prison; just outside town they used to raise cows for slaughter...don't know if they still do. But it seems to me that the inmates could grow some food out there.

I think every city & town in the country...no the planet, should be thinking along these lines instead of letting their communities decay.

I wonder if a really big rocketmass heater could be built to heat...say a 2 story building? There is an old monastery just a 1/2 block from where I live; empty for years,(some say it's haunted... has a good amount of land.

By the way if there are any permies here in SFe, who have land & need help for reasonable rent please contact me.
All the best, BZ

Keeping deer away: I had a terrible deer problem at a clients house here in Santa Fe NM; 53 Rose bushes & the Mule Deer loved them. I got the idea to put dog hair around the area where the deer would come up the property to eat my Roses. That fix the problem! Deer don't like to smell of dogs (predators). But the client didn't like dog hair flying around in the breeze so I stuffed the hair in legs of panty hose & fixed both the deer & the client problem. Don't use clean dog hair like from a groomer, just pull it out of the brush after you brush your dog or your friends dog.
