Hi,
My name is Laura, I am 25 years old, and I live in Gaithersburg MD. Alot of people find me rather strange for the way I view the world and live my life. Hence I am on here to find my people.

One day I would love to join an intentional community and be completely self-sustaining, but for now, I am on a healing journey. Inner healing as well as healing from chronic lyme. My health brought me back home with the parents where I currently don't have a community of people that I enjoy spending time and growing with.

Currently, I am looking for friends that like to play music and sing together. I play guitar and sing mostly folkly songs. I am beginning to learn acro yoga and massage, and would love to practice this with others that I have a connection with. (acroyoga requires more than 1 person.....look it up. It's sooooo fun!) I am also currently trying to whip myself back into shape after lying around alot from the extreme fatigue. My lungs have taken a beating and need to get that cardio back up! I like biking, hiking, hula hooping, and jump roping! I am trying to learn some tricks with the hula hoop and working on fire jump roping. Any fire spinners out there?!

Hmmmmm, let's see. Things that are important to me right now. Health, positive thinking, God and spiritual connection, love, doing what makes you come alive, permaculture because it's the only way I have found that I can live love towards others, singing!!!, conversations and getting to know others. The things I am passionate about learning but have not yet are butchering ( yes i eat lots of meat!), natural building, more healing stuff and herby stuff, possibly looking into being a doula, and cocounseling.

Campfires, snuggling, stars, trees, hugs, yummy local food ( you know the kind I'm talking about), acro yoga, and inner/ spiritual growth make me happy.

I would love to hear from anybody and everybody.
Love Laura

Hi Laura,

Keep up the search we are out there, there are so many people like us, I am looking for something along the same lines, however I am a on the other side of the continent, little far for any real community value , but thought I'd drop in and say Hi, all the way from the Similkameen Valley in, British Columbia. I will ask Great Spirit to look in on you and send you some Earth magic. , feel better.

Anywise, give me a shout back if your looking to chat.

Slancha,

-Dylan

Bless your heart, healing from chronic lyme have you considered doing a Liver Cleanse? and then a RAW food or juicing until you are feeling better? I know what you mean about not fitting in LOTS of people feel the same way. FicnaCmanecer.com may help. and May-Aug we have a volunteer program. Good luck, and Happy Holidays, Elena

Hi Laursie,

I don't know if a trip to Western Colorado would interest you, but I have a small place-- 2 acres, some goats, dogs, cats and a garden. I am looking for a house sitter while I go visit my family for a week, early april. I'm also looking for someone to watch my place for 10 days while I go take a PDC course in Carbondale, just 100 miles from here.

It is beautiful here, the air is clean and very dry. I border on a sandstone national park.

let em know if you are interested enough to want more information!.

Thanks

Thekla

Hi Laura, Hang in there, you can do it!! I experienced a similar illness about 2 years ago, Black Mold resulting in Rheumatoid arthritis & many allergies. Before that I was a petite-tough-as-nails-53-yo-gardener, lived on wood heat, I cut & split 5 cords of wood for a winter; the property owner wouldn't let me build a rocket mass heater....but had to move from there because of the mold.

Anyway, in my healing search I found a wonderful doctor; Dr. Burton M. Burkson MD PhD, The Integrative Medical Center in Las Cruces NM. He is not mainstream medicine, but plays the game. Please google him, his clinical studies & Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), The Alpha Lipoic Acid Breakthrough (one of his books) this is an AMAZING supplement especially for the LIVER, it can regrow a liver in the body, but affects all organs.
I went to his office & did a week of ALA Intravenously twice a day, never felt better!!! But the office visits are expensive & not covered by insurance....because they work! Be sure to use a clean form of ALA; Metabolic Maintenance is his preference. Too many common supplements come from China & are filled with toxins. Read the labels!

all the best to you, you are fortunate to have your parents to live with, although perhaps different life views & styles you have a place to go to heal. I did not.

Please feel free to write

So I too am looking for community living situation near Santa Fe, NM...because I have work here...

Hey Laura,

We have very similar life stories I am currently also in the process of healing from Lymes, looking for a community of people, trying to get back into the swing of things and common interests: singing, guitar, permaculture and local food. If you need a friend who knows how it feels shoot me an email and we can chat! erakeys92@gmail.com

I live in FL but that's what the internet is for, right?

Cheers,
Era

Hi Laura!

Thanks for sharing your story. It's refreshing to see your transparency about healing too.

I shared my story here.

I'm in Bethesda, MD---SUPER CLOSE!

I have been in an intentional living community out here that I wish I could recommend, but this is the reason why I'm not.

However, I have been making connections with people throughout the US. The closest ecovillages/intentional communities I know of aren't in Maryland with the exception of the Maitri House, which is full last time I checked a few weeks ago. A man contacted me from CL and said he has one acre in Eastern Shore that he is looking to turn into an ecovillage. I have been looking for bikers "in crime" to partake in a low-impact journey of freeganism, camping out, some bushcraft and slow local travel in the meantime.

It seems that you are still rejuvenating and I am too. We can start small and see what's close by if you're interested.

Hoping I can support you, Laura!

- Sandra
