Hi,
I have an ok IMO2 and have been looking for a local IMO3 carbohydrate. Wheat mill run was my 1st choice but I can’t find it. My local feed store has wheat bran but supposedly it’s different. What do you use or have seen others use?
I have an abundance of oak and maple leaves that I was going to use for my carbon. Does this sound ok?
I’m mainly using Chris Trumps IMO3 video as a reference.

Cheers,

I dont think its needed. but i figured it wouldn't hurt. my understanding is LABs can be used in most applications in natural farming so i use just about everywhere, everytime. Im very much a newb and excited about spring so i can make my 1st IMO and actual FAA.

I've been using the above for a few months on indoor plants to make sure it ok and seems to work beatifully.

Dan Fish wrote:I made mine very similar to yours but I can't figure out where I got the recipe. The only difference I remember is that it was fermented with lacto-baccilius pills I got from the health food store. The only smell was sweetish with a hint of vinegar, like a cheap wine mixed 50/50 with water? I suck at describing things.

Anyway, the stuff worked amazingly! I need to make more. Here fishy-fishy...

thanks for the reply.
Do you think i can use the dark brown top layer?

i'm attempting some OHN based on Chris Trump youtube. I used dry molasses instead of brown sugar and i'm not convinced it's properly fermenting. The sugar soaked up all the liquid from the dry rehydrated ingredients.
Any ideas on if i should add liquid or leave it alone.?

the recipe was
1350g fish
450g dry molasses
6tbsp LABS/EM
3L water

Hi. I wanted to make FAA but dont have any IMOs yet. I had fish,LABs, molasses and water so i followed this recipe.
https://www.unconventionalfarmsupply.com/homemade-fish-fertilizer

It's been over 4 weeks and i'm not sure it looks good. it seems to smell ok. sweet ,i expected a more fermented vinegar odor.
What do you think?

thanks
This was heated to around 700 - 900 degrees for an extended period of time. 3-4 hrs, at least.

I realized after I made my 1st batch of bio char that the can I used for retort was galvanized. I don't know much about galvanization but to you think the galvanization affected the bio char I know I caught up to at least 600゚.
More details:
I filled a 15 gallon can ,with a lid , with oak firewood cut into 3" chunks. I then put a layer of wood on the bottom of my 55 gallon barrel that I placed the retort can upside down on top of that then filled in the sides with wood and then put one on top and did a top down burn with a chimney and lid on top. It seemed to burn OK and I had readings of 630゚ at the bottom of the chimney flue. After I removed the can and saw some discolouration I realize that it had been galvanized do you think this would be any problem with the end product given the temps that it had reached.  The bio char seems to have turned out OK ,it is glass and crystalyn like.
