I found this:

And also just thought, a fricking laser to ignite the fire starter...!

I'm building an off grid home with a Homewood Heritage wood stove. In winter, I want to be able to set a timer and auto-ignite it, rather than having to get up at 5am to relight... I'm wondering if anyone knows of any commercially available products for this application. There are lots of ways I can think of, nichrome wire and a chunk of fire starter seems the simplest idea I've thought of yet, but unsure about ignition temps. I'm going to do some experimentation and googling, but thought this forum might have some thoughts!

Here's a few more pics of my installation - flue going in tomorrow!! https://photos.app.goo.gl/z7jFr2kfUccM8m13A

Tony, what do you mean by 'smoking'..?

You may need to try this solution to see if it's a problem with cross sectional area at some point:

who never learned the right way ?

Having learned the the hard way, if your whole outdoors lay-out does not work for you, immediately come off of the transitional area with a vertical chimney at least 6'
above any obstruction/high point outdoors and try it again ! If it works, fine the 'problem is in the Thermal Mass, it may only need more drying, or it may have too many
elbows as built.

If it does not flow well with a Vertical chimney immediately off of the Transitional Area, then you do not have your cross sectional area figured right,
or you have a problem in flow within your Transitional area, a very common area for trouble, this is an area for 3Xs the Cross Sectional Area and sweeping curves with
very smooth side walls, think sheetrock !

See also the other suggestions on the thread this came from here: https://permies.com/t/29861/rocket-stoves/rocket-mass-heater-rockety - some of the stuff I already mentioned to you on Facebook - increase space between top of heat riser and barrel, fuel feed / burn chamber x-section area..

Also, the leaks you mention may be significant..

Hope some others can chip in with their thoughts..
