that was my experience, too. That's why I wanted to speak to someone... who may know more than me. The stuff I found on the net wasn't really helpful, they all say to use it like potato (Aehm, NO).
I wonder if they all just copy text from each other...

I would put them down, no doubt.
I think you may have to weigh off the damage they could do later in their lives...

Hi Tracy , thanks for your thoughts. The Pine Martens are fairly rare around here (so in one way I'm super pleased to have them hanging around ours), but I'm gonna try and find out more about it from the authorities.
One thing you may find interesting: they don't eat into the tubes because they are thirsty (there's a lake very near by), but because they love something in the composition of the plastic. And I've got a cat whose also a plastic junkie. She finds certain plastics irresistable. Maybe they get some sort of high from it.

has anybody got the Pine Marten- Plastic problem?
Those creatures love to eat plastic and rubber (in Germany it's a well-known problem, because they get into car engines) - now they've started eating our irrigation system...
Any ideas?
(Dog's not an option)
