The birds stopped laying and county fair is over….plus my daughter found chicks at tractor supply for a buck each.  Three harvested today.

Issues I faced, milk jug killing cone is too small, don’t pick the molting bird as the plucked chicken those little stubs of feathers coming in are terrible to get out.  Chicken looks a little rough in the cone because in the death wiggles she wiggled her way out and I had to shove her back in for the picture.  55 minutes from harvest to fridge.

When my mom fries chicken she does it in a large electric skillet and makes sure the chicken gets brown and crisp, then finishes it in the oven.  But that's with large cut up pieces of chicken, not with small flat pieces.

Generally, I have a quesadilla for breakfast.  I am not a morning person and always am late to work...but no one cares.   I make my quesadilla usually just two tortillas and cheese, Sometimes I spice it up with some salsa or hot sauce, or if I'm really hungry I'll add some leftover meat.  Anyway, I have it timed so that I can start my quesadilla and go get finished getting dressed, come out and flip it, and put my shoes on and then it's ready to go.

I used to eat an egg sandwich for breakfast every day...or oatmeal...or cheerios, until I figured out that I have food intolerances...to eggs and oats.  No wonder I had issues every day....for decades.  Ugh.

My favorite cheat breakfast is a sausage and cheese mcgriddle with a hashbrown and a diet coke.

About once a month I do get some JUST Egg, which is mung bean paste made to imitates scrambled egg.  I like the new frozen servings, you can cook them in a toaster.  They make a nice 'egg' sandwich.

I am starting to get bored with quesadillas, so I'm thinking about going back to protein shakes, milk, banana, a mix of spices, and maybe some yogurt.  I did that for several years when if first figured out my egg issues.

At this house we have a rock patch with weed barrier for landscaping.  We have what I call a rock watermelon.  Each year the kids sit on the porch and spit watermelon seeds into the rocks and each spring we get a few watermelon plants.  This year we got a huge one.  I don’t water it much, just if it gets really droopy.  The summer heat in Nebraska is too much without some water.

They are metal, I don't know exactly what kind, I picked them up from facebook marketplace a few years ago.
Here is my submission for water bath canning. Had to push my wife out of the way to get this done.  She’s the canner of the house…but I can do it if I want to.
Here is my submission.  I may have went over the 10 gallons.  Corn cobs end up being kitchen scraps when your friends give you five bushels!
