i've been thinking about this every once in while too... I have three locations that I am active in two are subtropical and one is moderate alpine, forgot the zone.... My biggest problem is getting me mitts on the cultivars and/or seeds that could(!) work where I have set up shop. No, I'm not a local plants purist. Where I'm working, it's either deforested or desertified. I would have to experiment anyway to see if the biomes fit. I wish there was an international exchange - plant certificates be damned.

I always look for discarded awnings. The store-bought stuff is criminally weak and  starts disintegrating into microplastic after two seasons max. Haven't found anything better so far.

Errant comfrey. Depends on where it "crops" up. Usually I chop it for the compost (tea), sometimes I just drop it and otherwise if it's gone too far I uproot it (yeah, good luck with that), and use it for a salve. Have learned to live with its relentlessness. Next up sunchokes...

Lists of plants mentioned are always helpful.

Nationalities here are superfluous. Climate zones and locations are more useful?

Wanted to watch this as an old Stamets fan, but I don't live in the U.S. and my IP is flagged as a consequence. Hmmm maybe it's time to set up that VPN.

Marijke, Tyler. What (dis)Advantages could come of burying the bales (to a certain extent) to retain more water?
